Wirksworth Colts Football Club

FA Community Charter Standard Football Club
25 Years of Youth Football

I would like to welcome you to the new season, 2010-11.

It is a season of celebration as the club will be 25 years old this year. Wirksworth Colts started with one team and has since grown to a club of over 250 registered players with twenty squads training each week between September and May. We have a lot to be proud of. The FA kite mark as a Community Charter Club is recognition of our growth and quality of provision for young footballers.  We are proud of the fact that we offer football opportunities to all, boys, girls and those with disabilities. We seek to be an all inclusive club that encourages all young people to at least try the game of football.

We will be unfolding a year of celebratory activities in the near future and I hope that you and your family will join us as we recognise our achievements over 25 years.

Although the costs of the club continue to rise we have decided to hold our subscriptions for this year. The fees, which are payable in September and if required the second instalment paid in January, are as follows;

Full subscriptions £80 (A second player in the family pays £75 and the third and subsequent players £70.)

Training only subscription £40 per person.

Training only on a casual basis £2 a session.

Cheques should be made payable to ˜Wirksworth Colts Football Club'

The season starts for the under 10's boys and above from Sunday 12th September with fixtures available on the Rowsley and District website.  Mini soccer starts the following weekend on Saturday 18th September.

Codes of Practice

Wirksworth Colts Football Club prides itself on the reputation it has for playing the game in the right spirit. However it is not just the players who uphold this reputation but the club officials and most importantly our parents and supporters. Can I also encourage us as parents to actively engage in supporting and encouraging not only our players but the players of our opposition. It is always enjoyable to win but ultimately sport needs to be played in a positive environment where players feel appreciated and encouraged. I would also add that the parents who run our teams also need to be acknowledged and supported where ever they can. To run a team over one season is extraordinary but to do so up to ten years when they reach under 19's is exceptional.  The club in effect is one big team and we all have our part to play in making it a success. So at the start of our season I would like to thank you for all that you are able to do.

Presentation Evening

It may seem a little early to be promoting this evening but I know some parents plan holidays early.  The Presentation Evening this year is Saturday 14th May, which is FA Cup Final day. Not only will we be celebrating the end of another season but the end of our 25th birthday so it will be even more important than ever. Please put the date in your diary.

I hope you enjoy the coming season. It will have its twists and tuens as all seasons do but when you look back on it I hope you do so with pleasure. Seeing so many boys and girls regularly involved in sport is a wonderful thing and well worth celebrating in our 25th year.
